About

I became interested in photography many years ago mainly as a way of documenting my travels. This web site shows some of the fruits of my labour and is expanding as I visit more places.

I was born near the Thames in Buckinghamshire and have spent almost all my life on or near the thames either in London or Bucks. Having a Spanish mother, I spent summers in Catalunya at the family home - some images can be found on the image gallery titled Tiana. A native of the Chilterns and married to a Mexican, you can expect plenty of photos of both Mexico and the Chilterns.

I started with an old Nikon FE - a great, tough little camera which was ideal for stuffing into a rucksack and heading out into the wilds. I then purchased a second hand F3 before moving into medium format work with a Mamiya and later a Hasselblad 503CX. Preferred films are either Pan F or TMax100 for black and white and Fuji Provia 100 for colour.

My entrance into the world of digital photography has been with a Sony DSC T7 many of the latest galleries are composed exclusively of photographs taken with this versatile little camera. The Hasselblad still gets an outing but the Sony is ideal for general travel photography.

The image galleries on this website a mixture of travel and landscape photography. I am also interested in macrophotography and the natural forms and textures of plants.

There are some galleries dedicated to urban photography - particularly doors and windows and graffiti. These aren't so much city scapes but details of colour and texture. The flaking paint and rotting wood on an old door-way seem to express so much about a building's character and history much the same way a person's eyes can tell so much about their personality.

That's all for now.
